Francesco Salviati

Francesco Salviati 1510- 11 November 1563 was a painter from Florence. He was born as Francesco de' Rossi but later adopted the name Francesco Salviati. He is also known as Il Salviati and Cecchino del Salviati.
After coming to Rome in 1531 he met Giorgio Vasari whom he helped completing frescoes in the Palazzo Salviati for Cardinal Giovanni Salviati. His attachment to this household is the source of his surname Salvati.
