San Stanislao alle Botteghe Oscure is a national church dedicated to St Stanislaus, martyr and patron of Poland. It is also known as Santo Stanislao dei Polacchi.

[edit] History

The first church here was dedicated to the Saviour, and is mentioned in a document from 1174.

Pope Gregory XIII (1572-1585) granted it to the Polish Cardinal Stanislaus Hosius. He had it rebuilt and rededicated to St Stanislaus.

It was completely rebuilt in 1753.
