[edit] History
A chapel was founded here in 1690 by Cardinal Antonio Maria Pignatelli, later Pope Innocent XII, and construction of the villa complex of the Pignatelli family lasted from 1690 to 1695. It stands at the site of the tomb of Emperor Nero.
The villa was bought by the Ursuline Sisters of Gandino in 1933. They adapted part of their new convent into an elementary school.
The church was built in 1941 by Tullio Rossi.
Pope Pius XII made it a parish church. It was first served by diocesan clergy, and is now served by the Doctrinarians (Padre Dottrinari).
[edit] Exterior
The façade has one single storey, and is preceded by a small staircase. The triangular tympanon is decorated with the arms of the Pignatelli family.
[edit] Interior
At the altar is an image of the Black Madonna, which was a gift from the Vatican to the Ursuline Sisters.
[edit] Liturgy
The feast of St Andrew is celebrated on 30 November. The chapel is only open for special occasions and major feasts.
