Sant'Isidoro a Capo le Case is a franciscan church which dedicated to St Isidore. It is also the national church of Ireland.

[edit] History

The church was founded by Spanish Franciscans in 1622, the year that St Isidore was canonized.

In 1625, it became a refuge for Irish Franciscans. The Irish College was established here, and remains on this site.

The friars dispersed during the Napoleonic occupation, and a group of Nazarene painters settled in the monastery.

The Cappella Da Sylva was designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in 1663.
