|English name:||Holy Crucifix on the Ostian Way|
|Type:||Deconsecrated and demolished|
|Address:||Via Ostiense 106|
Santissimo Crocifisso alla Via Ostiense is a lost mediaeval chapel on the Via Ostiense between the Porta San Paolo and San Paolo fuori le Mura. The present postal address is Via Ostiense 106, on the west side of the road just to the left of the entrance of the Centrale Montemartini .
This little chapel used to stand on the pilgrimage route to and from the basilica of San Paolo, and was traditionally the place where SS Peter and Paul said goodbye to each other before going off to their respective places of martyrdom. It hence has the alternative name of "Chapel of the Parting". There used to be a venerated crucifix here, hence the dedication.
It was demolished at the start of the 20th century in order to widen the road, which was narrow here. A commemorative tablet was attached to the wall of the building that replaced it, and this now has a Baroque relief, of SS Peter and Paul embracing, placed over it.
